Mr Stoltenberg took to a taxi in June 2013, admitting that he hadn't driven in eight years, to canvas views of the average apolitical Joe. He comes out of it wonderfully well. It was reported globally. The non-subtitled (Norwegian language) version has over 1.5m views. In a country of 4.3m that is a remarkable reach.
Politics being politics everyone bundled in saying it was a hoax (5 of 14 passengers had been vetted to get a representative grouping). For us though, it should be applauded.
Mr Stoltenberg lost his post in the September election but maybe his efforts had something to do with a 78% turnout (the highest in 16 years).
The Norwegian Prime Minister has spent an afternoon working undercover as a taxi driver. Jens Stoltenberg says he wanted to hear from real Norwegian voters ahead of his campaign for re-election in September. The Prime Minister wore an Oslo taxi driver's uniform and only revealed his identity once he was recognised.
